Emanuel the Third is affectionate. Despite all the mishaps in life he radiates kindness. He is in awe when he is at the receiving end of it. His gait is unstable but he manages to walk fast and gets up immediately after falling down. Without the least concern. His head shows a variety of bumps and scratches but nothing deters him from exploring his new environment, the caregivers and the other kids. He is verbal and clear-eyed. One wonders in how far he is intellectually retarded or how far all this slow development is situational. We are curious to find out. We will not find out. After a two weeks illness for which he was admitted in the hospital, he died on the 12th of June 2007. Suddenly, still. He was diagnosed pulmonary TB. Rest in peace, dear boy. You were a joy for the community.
